Quick and easy ‘no makeup' makeup
I’m all about speedy mornings, so today I’m going to share my go-to, every day makeup look, which only takes 5 minutes.
If you’ve watched my videos or read my blog you’ll know I’m less about makeup and more about healthy skin.
However, I’m not kidding anyone - I’m 49 years old and while my skin is in good health, I do need a little extra help. I tend to go makeup-free on the weekends (unless I’m socialising, of course), but this is what I do most weekdays. I always prefer the ‘no makeup’ look so this is perfect for those who want to look polished without a lot of effort.
I’ve already applied my morning skincare and factor 50 SPF. I always wait 15-20 minutes after applying SPF to allow it to settle. Tip: this is the perfect breakfast time (porridge with blueberries for me).
I’ve been using this Estee Lauder foundation for about 3 months and I can tell you, it’s amazing. I typically oscillate between foundations – such as IT Cosmetics Your Skin but Better CC and Revlon True Match to name a few – but this has taken over completely. It’s a dream. It gives medium coverage, but buildable if you want more, and completely melts into my skin. The light luminosity is exactly what I want as it delivers a slightly dewy finish (dewy = youth). I apply it with the IT Cosmetics 2-sided brush. Without a doubt, this is the best foundation I own.

Next comes Trinny’s BFF Eye Serum. It’s super hydrating and a power-house of ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, vitamin c and peptides. I’m in love. I initially apply it with a firm eye shadow brush and then lightly tap in with a concealer brush. I also apply what’s left on the brush over the eyelids to lighten any redness and provide a base.

Next is a tiny bit of powder just under the eyes, to set the eye cream, and down the sides of my nose. Basically I want to get rid of the shine in the middle of my face yet leave the rest of my face nice and glowy.

The blush is next. Using my Real Techniques setting brush I apply from the apples of my cheek in an upward motion towards my ears. This helps draw the eye up, making the face look more lifted (unfortunately gravity is going the other way these days). I then tap some on both eyelids to bring a bit of colour and dimension to my face and tie it all together.

My eyes then get a swipe of Beauty Pie’s eye shadow stick – just along the lash line – with a light, slightly shimmery colour. It’s almost acts an eyeliner and gives a bit of lightness to my eyes. It’s simple but adds a lovely effect.

I curl my eyelashes – yes every day – and then apply IT Cosmetics Tightline Mascara. I truly love this stuff. It has the tinniest brush which means you can get to each and every lash, even on the bottom. I only just learned they’re selling at Boots now so that made my lockdown!

I finish with Beauty Pie’s pencil on my brows. I have a few holes in my lashes from a car accident as a teenager and hair doesn’t grow anymore. So I need to fill in the gaps and try to be a uniform shape to them. But I don’t go heavy at all.
